Greece
Overview
Law 4557/2018 is Greece’s principal modern AML/CFT statute, transposing the EU risk-based preventive framework and subsequently amended, including for 5AMLD implementation. Greece issued its second National ML/TF Risk Assessment in 2026; supervised institutions are expected to reflect that assessment in their own risk assessments under Article 35 of Law 4557/2018.
Law 4557/2018 underpins the Central Register of Beneficial Owners. Greece subsequently invested in digitisation/interconnection and improved registry access for competent authorities.
Obliged persons apply CDD, monitoring and suspicious-transaction reporting under Law 4557/2018 and related sector rules.
