Albania
Overview
The current AML/CFT framework is anchored in Law No. 9917/2008, as amended, together with implementing measures, targeted-financial-sanctions legislation and the separate beneficial-ownership register regime under Law No. 112/2020.
Law No. 112/2020 and the National Business Center beneficial-ownership register provide the corporate ownership-transparency layer. The 2023 MONEYVAL follow-up records progress in transparency of legal arrangements while preserving remaining technical gaps.
Obliged entities apply risk-based CDD and suspicious-activity reporting under Law No. 9917/2008; FIA receives, analyses and disseminates relevant reports and can monitor compliance through remote and on-site supervision.
